After 14 years living in Indonesia and working in diving and boats, I’m looking at what my next professional chapter will be. With all I have learned about the country, both underwater and topside, the question now is how to employ my hard earned skills. These are some ideas:

North West East South

After the success of my recently published book “Underwater Paradise”, I believe an appropriate sequel should be another diving guide to the Komodo area, maybe even followed by another one on the entire Maluku region.

Due to the public nature of my job I have found myself included in some documentary movies. Amongst them was the successful Belgium private production “Ondinesia" by Aquacam (www.aquacam.com). Another production was the Raja Ampat episode for the Spanish public TV series “Bubbles”. This is something I certainly wasn’t looking for, but I admit I enjoyed doing. I don’t discard the possibility of doing more work of this kind.

With 20 years of experience working in diving, running my own liveaboard operation for the last 14, I am now in a position to work as a consultant for new entrepreneurs wishing to start a business of this kind in Indonesia, whether is a liveaboard diving boat or a land-based diving centre.

Through the many years of living (and diving) in Indonesia I have not only experienced the beauty of its nature, but have also witnessed severe threats to its very survival. I regularly contribute my time, knowledge and money to several organizations that attempt to minimize the impact of these activities, bomb fishing and shark finning being the most destructive of them. As my interest toward the conservation of this unique region grows, I feel my next professional chapter may well be in this direction.
